DESCRIPTION:Helmut Lachenmann’s 90th birthday on 27th November 2025 is not just an excuse for celebration\, but also a reason for a special\, experimental jubilee concert. \nLachenmann and his music have accompanied our ensemble for over fourty years. It has challenged us\, inspired us and always pushed us to redefine our limits. His music is radical and strikes a unique balance between corporeality and analytical precision and between intuition and contemplation. \nWith the choreographer Emi Miyoshi and the SHIBUI KOLLEKTIV we endeavour to shine a new light on Lachenmann’s music: The presence of dancers and movers on stage illuminates the corporeal dimension o fLachenmann’s music. And Lachenmann’s music provides inspiration for the creation of a new choreography. \nLachenmann’s abstract musical language offers a plethora of possibilities for choreography\, not least because the musicians’ bodies themselves are involved in providing impulses in the music. Works such as Mouvement\, which explores the final twitches and movements before stiffening in death\, set movement and resistance in a charged relationship. One observes similar characteristics in solo pieces such as Guero or Pression and in ensemble pieces like Trio Fluido\, which have a choreographical component to them. Of course\, these compositions can simply be listened to. However\, at the same time\, it is clear that they are also physically and choreographically structured processes. \nIn her own language of movement\, Emi Miyoshi confronts Lachenmann‘s music. The music and dance meet as equals in this project; neither is subservient to the other. Both artists are unabashedly strong\, and the two art forms speak both on their own as well as together. \nThis project is a continuation of the learning process which Lachenmann’s music always demands. At the same time\, it is an invitation for a new learning process. DESCRIPTION:A choreographed soundscape about the environment\, chaos\, and the vision of harmony.\nFire\, water\, earth\, air\, a resonant cosmos\, and humanity at its heart. \nA holistic sensory concert experience for people between 5 and 105 years old about nature\, chaos\, and harmony with music and choreography: over 100 students with and without hearing impairments perform on the stage of the Freiburg Concert Hall to the sounds of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Ensemble Recherche: hEar! DESCRIPTION:© Mai Toyama \nThe music of Farnaz Modarresifar exhibits the interplay between notation and improvisation. Her music thrives on trust and the close collaboration between herself and the musicians. Modarresifar’s works bring together touches of traditional Persian music with a contemporary musical language\, characterized by the use of extended techniques\, sound gestures\, and a sensitivity for timing\, stillness\, and resonance. She creates a detailed sound world which calls for our attentiveness in the moment. \nWithin our first working phase\, which was held in preparation for our performance at the Festival Archipel in Geneva\, Ensemble Recherche worked closely with Farnaz Modarresifar\, developing a common musical language which formed the basis of our intensive collaboration. Building on this dialogue\, this new programme presents existing works alongside improvisations\, as well as the world premiere of a piece for soprano\, santur and Recherche. \nThe voice of Marie Soubestre plays a central role in the programme. Her longstanding collaboration with Farnaz Modarresifar facilitates their muscial rapport. Her expressive vocal capabilities expands the spectrum of sound possibilities and gives the music a lively\, touching presence. \nIn the collaboration between Farnaz Modarresifar\, Ensemble Recherche\, and Marie Soubestre\, a musical cosmos is created\, where individualised forms of expression meet improvisation and composed structures\, and where the western avantgarde meets Persian traditions. DESCRIPTION:Elnaz Seyedi\, Huihui Cheng and Ashkan Behzadi use different aesthetic languages to explore the understanding of the body – as sound\, as space and as a carrier of meaning. DESCRIPTION:Imagine walking down a corridor\, past a door left ajar – and hearing a peculiar mix of hums\, squeaks\, creaks\, groaning\,and hammering emerging from inside the room. Curious\, you take a quick peek into the room\, to figure out what the source of the noise is. \nIn this concert\, we invite the audience to peek into every world of strange noises they encounter. Stefan Prins\, Anna-Louise Walton\, Kristine Tjøgersen and Maja Bosnić each create fascinating sound worlds of their own. Each piece presents new impulses and questions\, which accompany us beyond the limits of the concert hall. \nStefan Prins’ intensive\, electronic soundworld teems with feedback and fine layers. Anna-Louise Walton’s choreographic piece for object ensemble brings together precision and playfulness in the most fascinating of ways. Kristine Tjøgersen brings a poetic\, natural dimension to the concerthall with instrumental imitations of birdsong. Maja Bosnić’s ((mno.go)) dissolves the fourth wall between the musicians and the audience. \nBut it will not be enough to participate passively in this concert. Instead\, the focus is on active discovery: in the form of a participative intervention\, sounds from pieces played will be recreated\, altered\, and experienced anew. Every sound which occurs in the concert hall will be microphoned and processed. In this way\, every movement and every noise modifies the soundscape of the room and becomes part of the musical process. New artist duo is born: Recherche and its Audience!
