Anja Clift is a Slovenian flautist specializing in contemporary music. She has been a member of Ensemble Recherche since 2022.

Alongside her artistic career, Anja Clift is a lecturer in flute, chamber music and the interpretation of contemporary music at Bern University of the Arts.

As a soloist and chamber musician, she collaborates with numerous ensembles from the international contemporary music scene, including Ensemble TaG, neuverBand, Collegium Novum Zürich and Ensemble Contrechamps. Her concert engagements have taken her to renowned concert halls such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Elbphilharmonie, the Pierre Boulez Saal, Tonhalle Zürich and Cankarjev Dom Ljubljana. She has also performed at major international festivals including Acht Brücken, the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Musica Strasbourg, Eclat, Milano Musica, Archipel and the World Music Days.

Her musical training began in Ljubljana, where she studied flute with Matej Grahek and Karolina Šantl Zupan, alongside musicology. She continued her studies in contemporary music at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, where she completed a Master’s degree in Contemporary Music under the guidance of Prof. Mike Svoboda, Prof. Marcus Weiss and Jürg Henneberger. She also holds a Master of Music Pedagogy from Bern University of the Arts, where she studied with Prof. Martin Fahlenbock.
