Music and history, in other words
What do we preserve, what do we pass on? How are archives created? Who decides what stands the test of time and what doesn’t?
In our “Other Histories” project, we are looking for new ways of writing (musical) history – together with three composers from different backgrounds and musical locations. We present the result in a multimedia concert installation in which music, video and dance are closely connected. We have also taken a critical look at our own archive.
“Other Histories” is a follow-up project to the Postcolonial Recherche residency program. An open exchange about colonial history and its individual, social and musical significance to this day was essential.
